Remember: suicide is nothing more than a permanent solution to temporary problems. Don’t put off asking for help. While many people experience suicidal thoughts at least once in their lifetime, persistent or obsessive thoughts of suicide or self-harm indicate a serious issue requiring immediate help.

We take talk of suicidal thoughts and actions very seriously and require any client dealing with such an issue to seek professional help before we provide coaching services.

What About Medication?

We do not provide advice regarding the use of prescription medications. Your doctor is best qualified to help you make any adjustments to your medications. Any suggestions by a Lightwave coach regarding medications, diet, alternative therapies, etc., should not be construed as medical advice.

Is Life Coaching Like Therapy?

Life coaching is sometimes confused with conventional therapy. Please be aware that life coaching is not intended as a substitute for professional mental health services. If you are dealing with severe mental health conditions, we encourage you to seek the help of a qualified mental health professional or therapist before seeking coaching services.

Therapy usually focuses on resolving past issues or addressing a specific mental or emotional health problem. Life coaching tends to focus more on improving present circumstances and on the future goals and aspirations of the client.

Our view is that both therapy and life coaching can work very well together for the benefit of the client.

Do You Offer Coaching Services for Couples?

Yes, we do offer coaching for couples. Sessions can be conducted together or independently. Couple’s session rates are the same as the individual rates.

What is “Mentoring?”

Mentoring services are offered in situations where a client seeks assistance and support from a Lightwave coach who will help them identify and utilize outside resources to help them accomplish their goal. For example, students making the transition from college into the workforce, veterans making the transition from active service into conventional society, or those transitioning from one career to another, or from the workforce into retirement, may be candidates for mentoring services. All terms and fees are the same for Lightwave mentoring as for coaching services.

Does Insurance Cover Lightwave Services?

At the moment, no. All Lightwave services are paid by the individual.

Are You Affiliated With Any Religious or Political Group?

Lightwave is not affiliated with any religion, church, or political organization. Services are provided regardless of your religious affiliation and we work with as much sensitivity to your religious orientation and beliefs or non-belief as possible.

Is My “Free Introductory Session” Really Free?

Absolutely. Your first session with a Lightwave Coach is free. We won’t even ask for a credit card. If, after your first free session, you wish to continue working with us, you can choose from a menu of single session or discounted package sessions.

Do You Conduct Face-To-Face Coaching sessions?

Most of our sessions are conducted by telephone, Skype, and email. If you live in the Portland, Oregon area and prefer a face-to-face session, please email us.

I Would Like to Work as a Life Coach. Do You Offer Training/Certification?

Not yet, but we’re working on it.

Are Your Services Confidential?

All session content, including telephone sessions and email correspondence, is considered private information and will not be shared with any third party beyond that which would be required by law in very rare situations.

Do You Offer Discounts for Seniors, Students, or Military Service?

Yes! We also offer discounts to long-term unemployed individuals. Email for details.

Do You Offer Refunds?

No refunds are provided for completed single coaching sessions or completed prepaid packages.

Single session appointments can be canceled with 24 hour notice and will not be charged. You will not be charged for any single session appointments missed by us. Package appointments will not be refunded unless we are unable to reschedule, in which case a refund will be provided on a cost-per-session basis.

How Do I Pay For My Sessions?

We accept payment by PayPal, cash, or personal check. We do not currently accept payment by credit card.
